  • Chalk line
  • Circular saw
  • Concrete float
  • Concrete mixer – electric or gasoline-powered
  • Drill
  • Framing nailer (Pneumatic Gun)
  • Hacksaw
  • Hammer
  • Hammer drill
  • Mason’s line: a strong line that doesn’t stretch or sag
  • Mitre saw
  • Personal protective equipment
  • Shovel: One appropriate for digging earth spreading gravel and mixing concrete (if necessary)
  • Speed square
  • String level
  • Tamper and/or plate compactor: for compacting soil and gravel
  • Tape measure
  • Trowel or hand float, bull float, and edger: for smoothing the surface and rounding the edges to reduce chipping
  • Wheelbarrow
  • 4 ft level
