VISIT THE TURKSTRA DESIGN CENTRE/ MEET YOUR COACH

Doors are available in a multitude of different shapes and styles. They can be very modern looking, or very traditional. The selections that you make will determine the overall look and feel that you will end up with. By having an end vision in place before you begin to make your selections, it will make the selection process easier and faster. Inspiration can come from many places; a house in your neighborhood that you like, a greater vision you have for your own home, or even something you saw on Instagram or your favorite DIY show.

The Turkstra Design Centre is a wonderful place to start your process. We feature numerous doors in various sizes, materials and styles. It’s a great place to get ideas and inspiration as well as meet our knowledgeable staff who can guide you through the process of deciding on the right door system for you.

STONEY CREEK CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Door Terms

  • Jamb – The vertical up-right components (or lining) that form the sides of a doorway.
    • Split-Jamb Pre-hung Doors – Jambs are split in half lengthwise and the trim casing is already attached to each edge of the jamb, so no mitering is necessary.
  • Plumb – Test (an upright surface) to determine the vertical.
  • Shim – A washer or thin strip of material used to align parts, make them fit, or reduce wear (a wooden wedge in our case).
  • Therma-Tru fiberglass door – Looks like wood, but it won’t warp or rot like wood, or dent or rust like steel. The inside is filled with an exceptional heat and cold-resistant material that helps keep your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
  • Weatherstripping – The process of sealing openings such as doors, windows, with weather strips (strips of material) to prevent cold air from entering your home from the outside.
